Happy New Year!
With the old year gone and the new year here, many view today as time for change. Countless people will make new year's resolutions to develop new habits and discard old ones. "Eating healthier", "exercising more", "losing weight", "quitting smoking", and "reducing spending" all find their seat among the top ten resolutions. While these are all good decisions to make, the best resolution you could ever make is the decision to follow Christ and spend time with God and His Word daily.
"And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." - Joshua 24:15
We can make the choice to serve the Lord and spend time in His word daily. Jesus viewed Scripture as necessary for a sustainable life in Matthew 4:4 - " But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." In Psalm 1:1-3, we are shown that reading the Word every day brings life - "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Our church has a Daily Bible Reading plan that takes you through the Old Testament once, the New Testament twice, the book of Psalms twice, and the book of Proverbs twelve times in one year. The plan can be found in the "Daily Bible Reading" section under the "Sermons" tab. We would love for you to follow along and join us in the commitment to study God's Word!
But, if you decide to follow along with a different Bible plan, that is fine as well! The most important thing is that you make the decision to spend time in God's Word every day and follow through in that decision. Happy studying!
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." -  2 Timothy 3:16-17
